Leadership and Strategic Impact (LSI): Think like a Leader

Leadership and Strategic Impact
The Intersection of Strategy, Leadership & Communication

Strategic leaders inspire others. They drive successful strategies. They deliver results for their organizations. But what does it really take to be a successful strategic leader? Why do so many smart, well-educated, and experienced business professionals stumble while others excel? Even the best strategy developed by the smartest person will fail unless an organization rallies around it.

The five-day Leadership and Strategic Impact (LSI) program is at the intersection of how to think, communicate, and lead strategically to further organizational objectives. It’s the “sweet spot” that integrates the skills you need to lead with impact.

During the program, you’ll expand your strategic capability while sharpening your individual leadership skills so you can help your teams, divisions, and overall organization transform strategy into front-line action.

Dates and Fees
June 22 - 27, 2014
$11,500

October 19 - 24, 2014
$11,500

The program fee includes tuition, books, most meals, and accommodations on the Dartmouth College campus.

Location: Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire USA

Objectives and Benefits
Develop Your Leadership Style
As part of a broad strategic learning experience, Leadership and Strategic Impact (LSI) places an unequaled emphasis on your personal leadership transformation. Before, during, and after the program, you have the opportunity to explore and expand your self-awareness as a leader and to hone your personal leadership style for broad organizational impact.

Prior to Coming to Tuck

As part of the preprogram preparation, you can choose to undergo a 360-degree leadership assessment with individuals in your organization who have had experience with you in a leadership role. The objective is to help you understand how others perceive your leadership and to uncover possible leadership blind spots. The assessment is optional, but experience has shown it’s a powerful part of the overall transformational learning experience.

During LSI
- Via a simulation, as well as classroom and breakout sessions, you will examine with Tuck Professor Pino Audia effective leadership styles, influence without authority situational leadership, and how to respond better as a leader to continually changing business environments.
- You’ll participate in a workshop with Dr. Marshall Goldsmith, a world authority on helping successful leaders achieve behavioral change for themselves and their teams. Marshall Goldsmith has been teaching in LSI for over 10 years.
- You'll review your 360-degree leadership assessment report in peer-coaching sessions that will help you understand your strengths and areas for improvement and define a personal action plan.
- You’ll complete a Myers-Briggs assessment and participate in a leadership lab to practice and understand leadership behaviors and how to get results through others. The exercise is facilitated by Action Learning Associates, experts at linking team and leadership development to business strategy.

After LSI
When you return to your company, you’ll have a clearer picture of what it takes to lead effectively and an action plan to be a more successful, versatile, and confident leader. As a result, you’ll be better positioned to have a direct impact on the strategic functioning of your teams for overall organizational performance.

Who Should Attend
High-potential or senior leaders whose roles have strategic implications for their organizations and who are motivated to become significantly better leaders by developing their strategic thinking, leadership, and communication skills. Enrollment in LSI is limited.

Teams
Tuck encourages the participation of teams in this program. Companies sending teams of three or more participants to the same program are eligible for a 10 percent discount on the program fee for the third and subsequent registrants.

More and more companies are telling us about the extraordinary impact of sending multiple participants to our programs. The benefits of team participation include:
- providing context for the connection between concept and action
- accelerating the transfer of learning to the organization to address company challenges
- encouraging the creation of a common strategic language
- building internal networks
- creating a sense of team accomplishment
- providing increased ROI on learning at both the individual and organizational level through improved, synergistic performance
