  Global Leadership 2030 Consortium

Global Leadership 2030 Consortium

Global Leadership 2030 is a consortium of non-competing companies that seek to prepare their high-potential executives for transnational leadership assignments. Current consortium members include Cigna, Colgate-Palmolive Company, Corning Incorporated, Deere & Company, and Rolls-Royce.
It’s one thing to learn about global business practice in a classroom; it’s quite another to grasp the nuances of another culture by exploring village life outside Chennai, India, or meeting migrant workers in Shanghai, China.

Each consortium member sends a team of 6–12 executives to participate in the three-module program, creating a cohort of participants from a broad array of geographies. The group spends a week on the Tuck campus in Hanover in the fall, a week in Chennai, India in the winter, and a week in Shanghai, China in the spring.  Learning destinations have varied over the years, depending on the needs of the member companies and market dynamics. The program has used global venues in Central and Eastern Europe as well as Oxford and Singapore and has continued to evolve its focus on developing strategic global leadership capabilities.

Professor Vijay Govindarajan (VG) first conceived of the idea for the consortium and is the founding faculty director. He brings new ways of thinking about strategy and innovation, including reverse innovation—when a multinational corporation learns to generate successful innovations in emerging markets and then export them to the developed world.

Professor Matthew Slaughter, the program’s co-faculty director and a global economics expert, helps the Global Leadership 2030 executives learn new ways to think about global business challenges and develop their own Leadership Point of View.

Who Should Attend
Membership in the consortium is by invitation and requires a rigorous commitment from member companies. Once accepted into the consortium, Global Leadership 2030 is designed for company teams who will transfer their learning to their organizations. Learning and development professionals from the participating companies partner with the Tuck team to co-design and regularly refresh the program. This highly customized approach leads to breakthrough business results within each company.
